Art is always a reflection of place and in two hundred years the works created by local musicians, artists, and craftsmen have developed a voice and a vision unique to the Inner Banks. Just drop in on some of the art galleries on the waterfront district and you can see that vision at work first hand. And because the arts of this region are a reflection of our cultural heritage, we like to celebrate it. Throughout the year, Washington hosts numerous events dedicated to the arts of eastern North Carolina. Washington is also helping to bring the dramatic arts back to the Inner Banks. The historic Turnage Theater will soon play host to its own dramatic arts series in cooperation with the East Carolina University School of Theatre and Dance. The Beaufort County Arts Council has been bringing art to the community through programs, exhibits, and performances for over 30 years. So discover the arts at the Heart of the Inner Banks.
