Find your joy in Little Washington this holiday season. From light displays and parades to holiday markets and concerts, this little town knows how to celebrate. The Washington Christmas Parade takes stride down Main Street on the morning of December 7 (10 am) to kick off the holiday season.
The Washington Harbor District Alliance will launch their holiday events on November 26th at their annual “Light Up the City” event. Hot chocolate & cookies from Rachel K’s Bakery will be served. If children haven’t been naughty, there will be special guest appearance! The Harbor District Christmas Market (11/26, 11/29, and 11/30) will host vendors that offer homemade Holiday crafts and goodies for holiday gifting. There is also a Jingle Mingle on December 5th where local businesses will stay open late so you can shop for more presents. Lastly, the Harbor Walk of Lights takes place the month of December. Boats on Washington’s Waterfront will be lit up to celebrate the holidays and you get to vote for your favorite.
Go river roving with the NC Estuarium to hunt down mistletoe along the shores of the Tar-Pamlico River. Found in the high branches of hardwood trees, you’ll be able to collect plenty of it for your holiday decorating.
Spreading the holiday spirit, Arts of the Pamlico will host A Christmas Carol on November 26th at the Historic Turnage Theatre with intro music by the River City Rangers in the gallery. Find holiday classics like The Polar Express (12/14) and Elf (12/21) on the big screen at the theatre in December. The Holiday Variety Show takes place on December 13th and The Embers with Craig Woolard will return for their annual holiday concert on December 20th , both at the Turnage Theatre.
Journey through some of Washington’s loveliest homes on December 7th at the Holiday Homes Tour coordinated by Arts of the Pamlico. This self-guided tour affords tour-goers an inside look at the wide range of neighborhood character found in Washington. Take a look inside charming cottages and contemporary additions to the Victorian style architecture downtown. The Rich Company will have a featured stop on this year’s tour to showcase an extensive display of Nutcrackers while offering cider and cookies.
