About Us

The Washington Tourism Development Authority (WTDA) was established by ordinance of the Washington City Council in 1994 to oversee the use of local occupancy tax revenues for tourism promotion and development. The Authority is dedicated to strengthening Washington's visitor economy by supporting initiatives that attract overnight visitors, enhance the city's appeal as a travel destination, and promote tourism-related events and activities.

Working in partnership with local organizations, businesses, and community stakeholders, the WTDA invests in marketing, special events, and tourism development projects that contribute to the economic vitality of Washington while showcasing the city's unique history, waterfront, culture, and hospitality. Through strategic funding and community collaboration, the Authority helps grow tourism as an important driver of the local economy.
