Special Events Sponsorship Grant
The Washington Tourism Development Authority (WTDA) was established by the Washington City Council in 1994 to oversee the use of occupancy tax revenues collected from visitors staying in hotels, motels, and short-term rentals within the city. Through its Special Events Sponsorship Program, the WTDA provides funding to support the promotion and marketing of tourism-related events that attract visitors and strengthen Washington and Beaufort County's tourism economy.
Sponsorships are available for public special events such as festivals, concerts, exhibitions, celebrations, and sporting events that encourage tourism and generate overnight visitation. Funding is allocated annually by the WTDA Board of Directors, and applications are accepted during two grant cycles each fiscal year. Please refer to the current application guidelines for submission deadlines and eligibility requirements.
